Kazuharu Omota

Kazuharu is an alumnus of VIA’s service-learning program which he joined when he was an undergraduate student. He then returned as a student coordinator for VIA’s social innovation programs between 2008 and 2012. His experience with VIA led him to choose to work for LITALICO Inc., a social enterprise in Japan tackling the issues around disability in Japan. After working as a manager at LITALICO, he moved to Recruit Career Co., Ltd. and joined a CSV (Creating Shared Value) project which aims to tackle the issues around shortage of care workers in the elderly care industry in Japan.

Kiki Yoshida

Since she was 11 years old, Kiki has been involved in activities with a NPO called “Hospital Clown” which holds a vision to “bring smiles and happiness to hospitalized children.” Based on her experiences with hospitalized children as a Hospital Clown and currently as a student in the Faculty of Pharmacy at Keio University, she aspires to provide a place in hospitals that resemble a school where children can have similar experiences as their peers.

In 2017, Kiki launched an initiative to start Your School, in which medical students are trained to provide a wide range of learning support to hospitalized children. Since then, she has been to Silicon Valley on an expedition to learn about sustainable social businesses, the American culture of donating, and in-hospital schooling programs in the U.S. She has started Your School in a hospital in Tokyo and is in the midst of registering it as an official non-profit organization (NPO).
