Development Committee Member
Bing first connected with VIA while obtaining a mechanical engineering degree at Stanford University in the 1980s. After a five-year stint in the corporate world, Bing and his wife fulfilled a dream by serving as VIA teaching volunteers in Ganzhou, P.R. of China from 1991-93. Bing has spent most of his career in the energy efficiency and renewables field, focusing on project management, and program implementation and evaluation–first at Pacific Gas & Electric in San Francisco, and then at SBW Consulting in Seattle, where he has lived since returning from China. He has been the president and CEO of SBW since 2014. For several decades. Bing has served on governing boards for local, regional, and national faith-based agencies. This includes serving as the chair for the Global Ministries body of the United Church of Christ, a role that connected him to partner NGOs around the world. He joined the VIA board in 2025.
