Futaba Gakuen is a private girls’ school in Fukuoka City on the island of Kyushu in southwest Japan. It was designated as a Super Global High School (SGH) by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). VIA has partnered with Futaba Gakuen since 2016 to bring students to Silicon Valley for experiential learning programs exploring culture, innovation, and leadership development. In 2024, VIA launched the Nichibei Girls Collaborative, a 7-month cultural exchange and social impact leadership development program for female-identifying (cis- and transgender) high school students from Futaba Gakuen and two Salinas high schools.
