VIA is thrilled to launch the Healthcare Gazette, where we will share exciting developments about its healthcare programs with prospective and current participants, alumni and members of the broader medical community.
For more than 20 years, VIA has been at the forefront of fostering greater ties between the San Francisco Bay Area medical community and medical students from a range of universities across Asia. It has managed to do so through its flagship exchange programs: Exploring Health Care (EHC) and Medical Exchange and Discovery (MED). These innovative short-term exchanges provide medical students from Asia with opportunities to gain firsthand knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system while immersing themselves in American society. Moreover, participants are able to hone the skills necessary to practice culturally competent medicine.
This August, VIA will host 41 medical students from Taiwan, Japan, and Mainland China at Stanford University as participants on the 2015 MED Program. Stay tuned to this space for program highlights and the chance to hear directly from staff, participants, and program partners about what makes MED such a unique and transformative experience.
