Finances
The fellowship is fully funded by VIA, with support from alumni, grants, and our partners.

- Approximately four weeks of training, covering program management, cross-cultural communication, leadership development, local language lessons, and teacher training
- Comprehensive emergency medical and evacuation insurance
- Living and housing stipend (based on local cost of living) while working at your post or on a short-term VIA program
- Intra-Asia travel (from training to your post and wrap-up conference)
- Language study grants and tutors are available at some posts

- Vaccinations (cost will depend on individual insurance)
- Initial visa costs ($150-$300, depending on country)
- Roundtrip airfare to/from Asia (usually around $2,000 – China fellows receive a one-way return flight reimbursement)
- Meals and optional activities during training and conference ($300-$500)
- Traveling for vacation during post and after contract at post has ended.

Additional Funding
Participating in the Global Community Fellowship, as a year-long internship placement, makes fellows eligible for funding through several competitive scholarships and/or grants. We encourage GCF candidates to explore these opportunities on our scholarships page and through personal research.
